Speaker: Gabe Bernal
Message in a sentence: I am Third. The needs of others should go ahead of our own needs.
Main Passage: Luke 10:25-37
Music Setlist: Holy is the Lord, This is Our God, How He Loves
Service Length: 65 minutes
Understandable Message: This was was all about others. We looked at the Great Commandment and the Parable of the Good Samaritan. But to really relate this to the kids, I told them the story of Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo. Where sacrifice for the greater good of not only the team but the need of a friend took a higher importance then their own goals and dreams.
Element of Fun: this week’s service was much more low-key, much more intimate. We shifted gears for this week to make it a candlelight service. And having a game or silliness would have ruined the mood.
Favorite Moment: Seeing what I was hoping for to happen, happen. As I do with the last message of most of my series, we had a time of response/prayer after the message. No one made a profession of faith, but I’m okay with that because what ended up happening was people praying for each other. Kids coming up to others and loving on them, caring for them. The love was in the room and everyone could feel it.
EDIT (9/25): I received an email late Thursday about a junior higher who attend Wednesday who went home, talked to his parents about what it meant to be a Christan an then later accept the Lord into hi heart!! How exciting!
Up Next: one of our volunteers, Rod Wade will be speaking on gifts. Rod is a good man how has a huge heart for the kids. One of the positive things of me not speaking at most of the Intersections, like I had originally planned, is that Rod now has the opportunity to teach to our kids at Intersection.
