The Benefit of Having a Journal

I keep a moleskin journal with me most of the time. Lots of stuff goes in there. I write everything from notes from TED Talks, meeting notes, to-do lists, reflections, random thoughts and musings, blog ideas, and other things I want to remember.

I am currently switching to a new journal because I ran out of room in the old one and before I shelve it, I like to go over and see some of the things I have in there. It is amazing to look back and see what caught my eye and grabbed my attention. I have some great notes that I totally forgot about and am glad I wrote them down.

Here are six great notes from my last journal I want to share:

1.) My team is NOT an extension of me to get things done.

2.) Being not truthful works against me – Stefan Sagmeister

3.) The purpose of influence is to speak up for those who can’t – Rick Warren

4.) If I can handle today correctly, tomorrow will take care of itself

5.) The goal is not to sell people on what you have, but to sell people on what you believe – Simon Sinek

6.)The brain didn’t evolve to see the world the way it is, the brain evolved to see the world the way it is useful
