The Power of Words

the-power-of-words2This past week, two individuals kicked up major firestorms with their words. Phil Robertson, from Duck Dynasty, in an interview and Justine Sacco, a PR director, with a tweet.

Crude and ignorant words have offended and created controversy. Both from people who (probably) at the core good people who didn’t mean to hurt others, but because they didn’t think about what they had to say created rifts in and broke relationships.

My mother always said – “Don’t put in writing what you don’t want plastered on the front page of a newspaper” Why? Because whether you realize it or not, your words have power. The power to build up or power to ruin. The power to hurt or the power to heal.

What did yours do today?
