Another Reason I love being in England

I get to watch Age of Ultron before all you YANKS!!

High School Readings

Have you ever though about assigned readings when we were in school. I don’t mean just the books we were suppose to read in English, but I’m talking all the reading from text book readings or recommended readings in every class.

For example, our assignment for tonight is reading chapter 3. Then we immediately think, ‘Yeah! No homework tonight!’

How much smarter do you think we would be if we be if we actually did all that reading? Hmmm. Just some food for thought.

The $12 Story from the COTA

WARNING: Math involved

COTA stands for Circuit of the Americas. It is the new purpose built race track built outside of Austin. November 18 was the first Formula One race in the United States in 5 years and my dad and I were lucky enough to be able to go.

But I want to share an exchange with a vendor I had that weekend.

Sign clearly says: Soda $5. Water $4

I walk up to a drink vendor, “Hi, I’ll have a water and a Pepsi.”
Vendor pulls drinks out of cooler and places them on table. I had ner a 10 dollar bill. I pick up my drinks and wait for my change. Vendor puts ten in register, looks at me and says, “You have 2 more dollars, it’s 12?”
Confused, I look at sign again. Sign clearly says: Soda $5. Water $4.
I reply, “It says soda is five and water is four.”
She looks at me with a puzzled look. I can tell she is thinking real hard.
She finally says, “Did I do my math wrong?”
Yes. Yes you did. “Five plus four is nine.”
Vendor replies as she gets me my change, “I’m sorry, I’m really tired.”

I hope she doesn’t go to UT.

Headphone Hole on Backpacks

Okay, so this is completely random, but I was at the library (don’t judge, that’s where all the cool people hang out) and I looked down at my bag and saw this:

If you can’t tell what it is, it is a hole for your headphones. Now, I’ve seen thing before (on more than one backpack, but never have really put anything though into it. But today, for some reason I started wondering, why is that there? Does anyone use that? It doesn’t even seem practical?

Does anyone put their MP3 play in their bag and run the cord for your headphones through there? Seriously, I want to know. Who does that?
